I personally know three couples that met for the first time in GW. And all are still together. In fact I do not know a relationship that ended because of GW at all.

But I think relationships destroyed by excessive computer gaming is nothing new and not really so much limited to GW or online games. EverQuest and World of Warcraft as the more time and life consuming games out there just take the lead in this regard, they are interestingly also the games where sometimes some people become more than friends.

GW is probably in the middle ground, also due to its more casual and less time consuming nature. It is still not a MMO that requires more than 1 hour at the minimum to get anything done.

But actually I think that playing too much GW or too much WoW or whatever rather prevents you from having a relationship at all.

Sex is definitely more interesting than any game ever created! The day I feel like skipping out on some loving to play computer, is the day I unplug completely, never to sit in front of a screen again!

Never had a relationship online! But flirting, even infatuation,- sure!

Met some really good people through GW, some of them I hope to keep in touch with even if we quit playing GW some day.

i never had a relationship over guild wars and i don't need one over gw
i have a normal relationship with my girlfriend and we're happy that way

she doesn't like the fact that i game all the time but it's not a too big issue
and i don't have a baby cuz i'm 16
if i'd make my gf pregnant i'd be in trouble T_T

Closest thing I got to ending relationships in GW was a few guild friends switching to WoW. Then we all made fun of em.

My fiancee and I play guild wars frequently. I got her into playing it and it's something fun for us to do together. The relationship didn't start because of gaming, but it has descended into a few fights here and there because she or I play too much sometimes. 99% of the time is nothing but fun though.

Making female characters and, yknow, playing the game as though it was a real RPG (you know, games like KotOR, where you play in-character rather than games like Gw where you just use it like a chat channel) is a great way to manipulate people into helping you all around Guild Wars.

Roll a female character, go to Shing Jea Monastery, find some high end player, follow through their 'SJM Dating' process, watch as they take you through all manner of high end areas. Easy cash and runs, it's like farming but not as mind-achingly dull.

wow some people have some issues.... when i first got the game...i played it alot...often do with new games...once the wife got a little pissed for me playing GW rather than going out...i realized what was really important in life...so i kicked my wife out and now i am Rank 14 with God among Mortals title... Yay ME!

No really i stopped playing GW so much...happens with all new games and she kinda expects me to play for a few weeks pretty hardcore then...to play less and less...she knows me well...haven't logged into GW for a few weeks cuz i got a brand new game...called a 1 year old daughter

that's entirely dependent on the concentration of hormones coursing through your veins, we're animals after all.. I suppose you could make the argument that depending on your youth / horniness, playing an online game, going down the pub, and bumping uglies are all equally useless pasttimes.

There are brain cells that I have lost from the OP. Although, the reason for editing the OP gave me a chuckle ("spell check") for the irony...

I hope to do the opposite. I started my wife on WoW b/c it is slower and more forgiving and she is still having trouble with WASD movement.... but once she gets better we are going to punt WoW in its grindfest face and come to the light that is GW.
